A Valtra S280 has once again broken the world ploughing record. Frenchman Jacky Bouedo managed to plough 398 hectares in just 56 hours between 2 and 4 September in French Mormandy near City of Caen. Bouedo’s previous record was from autumn 2003, when he ploughed 245 hectares in 36 hours.

New record in ploughing was made with Valtra S280. 398 hectares in 56 hours.

The record-breaking attempt began on Friday 2 September at 8:15am and ended on Sunday 4 September at 6:40pm. The tractor ploughed for 56 hours 38 seconds. 2 hours 27 minutes were removed from the time, as amount was spent maintaining the tractor and driver and transferring between fields. The tractor was fuelled on the move. Altogether around 30 people helped out.

The weekend did not pass entirely without incident. The window on the cab door was broken on Sunday at 12:30pm, so Bouedo had to drive the last six hours without a door. The conditions were extremely hot and dusty, so the last hectares were tough on the driver.
