Valtra Norway sponsors up-and-coming racer

"I will be the worlds best female motocross rider by 2007"

Anine leads the pack, as usual! She often competes in the same series as the male riders to get more practice.

Eighteen-year-old Anine Sanner Akre from Norway is one of the biggest talents in women’s motocross in the world today. Anine is without a doubt the best female rider in Norway, and probably all of Scandinavia. Her biggest victory so far was at the Gotland Grand National Enduro Championship in 2003. In 2004 she won the Norwegian Championship and placed second in two Swedish Championship events. For extra training Anine competes in the open class in the men’s Norwegian Championship, as well as in the Norwegian Cup.

According to trainer Roy Snellingen, himself a legend in Norwegian motocross in the ‘90s, Anine is already a pioneer in women’s motocross and definitely has the potential of being the best in the world. In 2005 she will compete in the unofficial World Championship for women in Texas, USA with the aim of placing among the top 10.

When Anine began racing motorbikes as a 12-year-old, she already had the clear goal of becoming the best. Just a few months after she started riding she was interviewed on Norwegian TV and announced that she was going to beat all the boys. Four years later she did this in the entrance examination for the Norway’s top athletics school. Now her goal is to become the best female motocross rider by 2007.

At the moment Anine is finishing her last year at school. After this she will train for another year and work hard to improve further to get even closer to her goal of being a professional rider – and the best in the world.

Faster than enduro

The ambitious 18-year-old chose to compete in motocross because for her this is the most fun form of racing. “You drive faster and jump higher than in enduro,” Anine explains. Enduro is a competition where you drive over longer hours and on different types of courses than in motocross. Enduro is still an important form of training and diversion for Anine, but she plans to focus on motocross.

So, how did it all begin? Several years ago a friend Anine’s father, Ole Ludvig Akre, recommended he try motocross. The family went along, and they were hooked. Ever since there has been little else than motocross for the Akre family. While Anine and her 12-year-old brother Ole-Alexander are competing, their mother Eva handles the job of manager while Ole Ludvig is the mechanic.

The family travels around to competitions in Norway, Sweden and the rest of Europe in a big bus that contains both sleeping quarters and workshop. To compete at the high level that Anine is used to takes a lot of time and money, and to keep “Team Anine Sanner Akre” running requires funding from sponsors. Valtra Norway is one of Anine’s main sponsors, helping her to achieve her goal of being the best! The partnership is also important for Valtra Norway, which Anine promotes at various events. She is a great ambassador for Valtra, whose logo is visible both on the bike and on her clothes wherever she competes around the world.

A family of Valtra owners

When he is not traveling to competitions, Anine’s father Ole Ludvig runs a company specializing in construction gardening. The company currently runs two Valtra tractors, a C130 with HiTrol and frontloader and an XM150 City. Before this he ran a 6850 HiTech and an X120 City. In this way Valtra plays an important role for Team Anine.

Valtra Norway wishes Anine and her family the best of luck in the 2005 season and in her goal of becoming the best in the world!
