Organising the logistics of a tractor factory is quite a challenge. Of the 50 new Valtra tractors produced daily, 40 go to export. In addition, 250 tonnes of tractor parts and raw materials are required each day. As up to 80 percent of these material flows are delivered on a Just-On-Time basis, the entire logistics system has to work perfectly.

Italian farmer Luca Capraro, who departed with a team of colleagues last Thursday from the Valtra factory in Suolahti, Finland, arrived successfully in Verona, Italy, on Wednesday 3 March. The epic journey by tractor took the team through Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany across the Alps to Italy.

The Valtra M120 is 200 kilometres far from Gothenburg that it will very likely reach at night time. So far there hasn’t been any technical problems, the fuel consumption remains stable at about ten litres per hour and no decreases of lubricant level have been noticed.
