Diary: Gothenburg. February 28th 2004
01.03.2004“At 11 p.m., two hours earlier than scheduled, Valtra " M 120e" definitely closes the Scandinavian part of its trip and thanks to that advance it will disembark in Frederikshavn, Denmark, tomorrow morning at 5.30 a.m rather than at 11 a.m.”
“In the end the Swedish share of the trip has been easier than expected, also because of GPS that by mistake has many times brought the tractor in highway instead of main roads.
Obviously the crew was upset by these mistakes and worried of the police, fearing to loose both the tractor and driving licences. But it is also true that these mistakes, immediately corrected by leaving the highway from the first available exit, have saved quite a lot of kilometres and stirred to the maximum possible speed, about 44 km per hour.
The well in advance schedule has been possible also thanks to “Fikter” tyres, supplied by Kleber, which have definitely showed to be comfortable, noiseless and without vibration during their trip on the Scandinavian roads.
After thirty hours, nine hours of breaking in by the Finnish technicians included, the consumption is now a bit less that 10 litres per hour, i.e. an average of almost three kilometres for litre.”
