Valtra celebrates EU expansion with young farmers in Brussels
03.05.2004Young farmers representing the ten newest member states of the European Union celebrated on the first of May by presenting agricultural products from across the EU in the main park in Brussels.
Valtra pedal tractors underwent heavy testing at EU celebrations in Brussels.
The products on display included Piedmont wines from Italy, Topyar beer from Slovakia, Vcela Predboj honey from Poland and Radonice cheese from the Czech Republic. The Finnish stand featured Gefilus dairy products and Emmental cheese made by Valio.
The event, which attracted an estimated 60,000 visitors, was organised by the Council of Young European Farmers (CEJA – Conseil européen des jeunes agriculteurs). The CEJA is represented in all 25 EU members states.
Valtra teamed up with the CEJA at the May 1 event to allow children from all countries to test the S Series pedal tractor on a special track. Around 2000 children from across the EU attended the event, logging up an estimated 170 kilometres with the pedal tractors. Afterwards the tractors were donated to the day-care centre at the Europe School.
