Peat is an important source for energy in Northern countries, Baltics, South-East Asia and Ireland. It is also used in glasshouses and as litter for cattle. Finland has been the frontrunner in developing new harvesting methods. In co-operation with peat contractors, Valtra has developed a tractor and the necessary accessories to conquer the peat fields. Valtra´s market share in Finnish peat bogs is around 70 per cent.
