Plenty of power and torque in this tractor
In the first month and a half of ownership, Antti Palo racked up 150 hours in his new Valtra T202 Versu tractor. During this time the tractor covered 2257 kilometres, which suggests the kind of work that the tractor has been used for.
The T202 Versu has all the power and torque needed to level a narrow local road by driving in one direction. Palo has widened Rote’s largest leveller himself.
Palo, is a contractor and farmer from Hollola in Finland, has used his new Versu to pull a large Rote levelling drag, to transport gravel, earth and soil in a 10-cubic-metre trailer, and to brush roads
“The T202 Versu has a lot of power and torque. So far there have been no technical hiccups whatsoever. The 160-litre hydraulic flow is sufficient for operating multiple implements simultaneously. The 47 litres of external hydraulic fluid is sufficient to tip the trailer. Changing gears is easy, and there are not plenty of powershift gears. Perhaps the gear ranges could change faster, but this applies to all tractor brands and models,” comments Antti Palo.
Palo puts his tractors to hard work. When fitted with a belly blade, Jake front linkage and other equipment, the weight of the tractor climbs to ten tonnes. With a sanding scoop the weight can amount to as much as 12.5 tonnes. The resulting stress on the tractor is considerable, especially when travelling at high speeds with a belly blade or folding plough.
“Last winter we used tractors to replace a road grader. This is tough work for a tractor, but the end result was good,” Palo comments.
In addition to his new T202 Versu, Palo has a Valtra N141, T160 and 6850 with which he maintains roads in the surrounding municipalities. The work involves ploughing, levelling, trimming roadsides, sanding, clearing snow, transporting materials and replacing asphalt.
Equipment fit for the job
Palo’s tractors are well equipped for road maintenance work. His T202 Versu is fitted with a Rote belly blade, a Jake front linkage, a 50-km/h transmission, Nokian TRI2 tyres, Aires front axle suspension, automatic air conditioning, semi-automatic AutoComfort cab suspension, yellow municipal contracting paint, an air-conditioned Evolution driver’s seat, an onboard computer and a phone. Studs were added to the tyres in the autumn for the winter ahead.
After the first 200 hours with his T202 Versu, Antti Palo is particularly satisfied with the power, reliability, hydraulic output, easy transmission and more powerful brakes.
