Legendary Finnish SISU - the best engine on the market
At the heart of Valtra tractors you will find the most reliable and efficient engine technology available on the market.
Valtra were the first manufacturer to introduce an SCR system on agricultural tractors, and this system is now in it’s fourth generation.
Valtra’s SCR system is an extremely efficient after-treatment system. A urea and water solution is combined with exhaust gasses externally to the engine. It is not mixed with the fuel, and the solution is held in an additional, separate tank. By eliminating harmful nitrogen oxide emissions, the combustion in the engine can be made more efficient with four-valve technology and higher injection pressures. Efficient combustion also means improved fuel consumption – by up to 10% compared with previous engines. The SCR technology employed by Valtra utilises a combination of a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR).
The careful positioning of components and their optimal size (a combination of two different types of catalytic converter) allows the size of the tractor to be kept compact.
SCR engines use only clean air, which helps prolong engine life. In addition, the use of AdBlue pays for itself through improved fuel efficiency. The SCR system is virtually maintenance free and does not require the maintenance or replacement of a Diesel Particulate Filter.
With Valtra EcoPower models you have the unique opportunity to choose between two different engine settings at the push of a button. Valtra EcoPower models offer two tractors in one.
Valtra EcoPower tractor models fully utilize the sturdiness and high-torque characteristics of AGCO Power engines at low revs. Compared with standard engines, the engine speed has been reduced by 400 rpm while maintaining maximum torque in this range. This reduces fuel consumption by up to 10 percent.
Benefits of low rev engines:
Rated speed of 1800 rpm
Max. torque at 1100/1200 rpm
Very high torque, even at 1000 rpm
Wide constant torque range
Low fuel consumption, approx. 10 % lower than on engines std-mode
Low emissions - environmentally friendly
Less waste oil
Low piston speed: longer engine life
Special driving technique
The EcoPower requires its own driving technique to achieve the maximum benefits. It is surprising how low engine speeds are needed for both partial and full loads in many tasks. A whole new world of driving is opened while working at low revs. Drivers are encouraged to use low engine speeds down to 1000 rpm, where the torque is still 25% higher than at the rated speed of 1800 rpm. The engine noise is also lower and changes into a pleasant murmur.
Keep cool and save
At lower engine speeds the losses in both the engine and the transmission are smaller and the oil temperature is lower. EcoPower engines are most cost-effective in changing working conditions. Considering the continuous rise in fuel prices, the economic benefits of EcoPower tractors are substantial.
A great Valtra innovation is the low-idle feature that comes as standard on common-rail models. When the driver stops the tractor and applies the handbrake, the engine speed automatically drops to just 650 rpm. In models with SCR technology the idle speed is flexible and adjusts automatically in case cooling of the catalyst is required after a hard run. The low idle speed immediately lowers fuel consumption and creates a pleasant engine noise. No unnecessary fuel consumption, no unnecessary noise, no unnecessary engine wear.
