Content production as a passion

To Jenna Väisänen, who lives in Jyväskylä, it was clear to apply for a trainee position at Valtra. Jenna is from the countryside, and her parents even have a tractor. In addition to this, the brand was already familiar to her. She decided to apply for marketing and communication internship place even though she was concerned would Valtra hire her, because she did not have any experience from the tractor industry. 

“I could love to continue work for Valtra in the future. My internship has been very rewarding! However, I want to keep on developing myself and learn new things as much as possible. With Valtra this has been possible!” - Jenna Väisänen

Jenna Väisänen is majoring in marketing and minoring in corporate communication at the University of Jyväskylä. Before her university studies Jenna had a gap year during which she confirmed her desire to study business and specifically marketing. In 2021 she got lucky, and she got a place to study in Jyväskylä. 

International marketing arose Jenna’s interest

“I have always been interested in languages. I have studied English, Swedish, Russian and a little bit of Italian. When I got in the Business studies in University, I started to realize quickly that I want to focus specifically on becoming an international marketing professional. As a result, last January 2023 when I was searching for summer job, I applied for jobs in companies where I could work on international marketing. But during that time, I did not believe it though that I could get training place from an international organization.”

Jenna applied for a job from Valtra directly at the business fair 

In a business fair organized by Business and Economics students, Jenna remembered that Valtra has an office in Suolahti very nearby Jyväskylä where their marketing department is also located. 

“There was a Valtra stand at the fair and I remembered only then that I could apply for Valtra for the next summer. I basically walked to Valtra’s stand and I asked did Valtra has marketing summer job for me. My supervisor asked me to send my CV to him and after that he would get back to it.”

“Even though my parents have a tractor, I never drove it. And I did not have much experience on tractor industry, so first I was very concerned would this be a threshold question. I am so happy that it wasn’t! After few months my supervisor called me that I got the Marketing & Communication Internship place.”

First summer job in own field of study

Jenna got her first internship in her field of study from Valtra’s Communications and Digital Marketing  team. 

“I have been really satisfied with Valtra’s orientation. Everyone has been encouraging and understanding. I feel that I have learned a lot in a short time and got the opportunity to use a lot of what I learned in my university studies. I have been very happy that I have been trusted and given responsibility.” 

Jenna has got the opportunity to use her creativity

“During this summer I have realized that content creation is my thing. I have been so excited about all my work tasks. As a person I am very creative, and I have been very happy that I have been able to utilize this side of myself.”

During the summer Jenna has made reels for Instagram, planned Valtra EME’s social media calendar, taken images and videos and written articles.

“I have been able to do all sorts of things. To give presentations, create and edit websites using AEM, make posts, take photos and so on. It has been the best!”

Prospects

Jenna’s prospects are open. 

“I could love to continue work for Valtra in the future. My internship has been very rewarding! However, I want to keep on developing myself and learn new things as much as possible. With Valtra this has been possible! No working day has been the same, but there has been just the right amount of turnover.”
