Valtra has completed the 1,000th AGCO CVT transmission at its Suolahti factory, marking a major manufacturing milestone just one year after the start of series production. Part of Valtra’s €38 million high‑technology investment, the CVT expansion strengthens the company’s Made in Finland promise and supports AGCO’s global tractor production network with high quality, efficiency and delivery reliability.

Around one year of series production reinforces Valtra’s “Made in Finland” manufacturing approach and the importance of the investment within AGCO.

Valtra has reached an important production milestone at its Suolahti factory with the completion of the 1,000th AGCO CVT transmission. Commissioned last year as part of Valtra’s €38 million high technology investment, the CVT expansion has quickly proven its capability for efficient, high-quality series production.

The CVT expansion at the Suolahti transmission plant supports Valtra’s and AGCO’s strategic ambition to develop and manufacture key powertrain components close to tractor production. In addition to Valtra tractors, AGCO CVT transmissions produced in Suolahti are also supplied to other AGCO tractor brands.

Built for Scale and Performance

Commissioned last year, the expanded CVT facility has quickly reached a stable and efficient production level. The investment is one of the most significant in Valtra’s history and further reinforces Suolahti’s role as a modern, high-technology centre for tractor manufacturing.

Series production began approximately one year ago, says Kullervo Mansikkala, Transmission Plant Manager at Valtra.

“Reaching this 1000th CVT milestone shows that the new Suolahti expansion has achieved its intended performance quickly – with quality, delivery reliability, and efficiency fully aligned,” Mansikkala says.

Made in Finland, Competitive Worldwide

Manufacturing AGCO CVT transmissions in Suolahti reinforces Valtra’s “Made in Finland” promise while increasing production self‑sufficiency. At the same time, the investment provides a strong long‑term platform for competitiveness and further development of transmission manufacturing in Finland.

“We have created a solid foundation that allows us to scale up and further develop transmission production in close cooperation with AGCO’s global manufacturing network,” Kullervo Mansikkala concludes.

The thousandth CVT transmission rolled off the line when SVP and Chief Supply Chain Officer Tim Millwood (left, holding the sign) visited the expansion.
