Valtra tractors ranked best at holding their value in Europe

In a recent study by the respected Koneviesti publication, Valtra tractors were found to have the best overall resale value of all brands examined. The well-planned methodology of the study accounted for several intricate factors. The study included tractor models from 2015 to 2020 of above 100 kW (138 HP) with under 8000 operating hours. Data was taken from Tractorpool and Mascus websites between December 2025 and February 2026, and the VAT-free pricing accounted for transmission type, front linkage and front loader.

Valtra clearly ranked the best in the average resale value comparison, retaining 66% of its original value. Other brands examined in the study included (in alphabetical order): Belarus, Case IH, Claas, Deutz‑Fahr, Fendt, John Deere, Kubota, Lamborghini, Landini, Massey Ferguson, McCormick, New Holland, Same and Zetor.

Second-hand tractor models that retain the best value

For models examined, Koneviesti found that the Valtra N Series retained the best value overall. Valtra performed especially well in the below 140 kW (187 HP) range but was also the winner in the below 200 kW (268 HP) category. In the 140-200 kW (187-268 HP) category, the Valtra N and T Series tractors achieved the top spot.

Low-to mid-horsepower tractors hold their value the best

The study highlights that on average across all brands, tractors in the 201–250 kW (273–340 hp) power range, and those above 300 kW (402 HP) only retained around 50% of their original value. It’s worth noting that the scope of the study (tractor models from 2015-2020) excludes the 6th Generation S Series, which was introduced at Agritechnica in 2023
